Review: Sins & Needles by Karina Halle

February 10, 2013
Ellie Watt is used to starting over. The daughter of a grifting team, Ellie spent her childhood being used as a pawn in her parents' latest scam. Now she’s much older, wiser and ready to give her con artist life a rest. But returning to the dry desert town of Palm Valley, California means one more temptation than she bargained for – Camden McQueen. Once known as the high school weirdo, Camden is bigger and badder than the boy he used to be and a talented tattoo artist with his own thriving business. Ellie’s counting on Camden still being in love with her but what she’s not counting on is how easily unrequited love can turn into obsession over time. When Camden discovers Ellie’s plan to con him, he makes her a deal she doesn’t dare refuse, but her freedom comes with a price and it’s one that takes both Ellie and Camden down a dangerous road.
This was recommended to me and I wasn't sure if I'd like it but I was pretty good immediately.
Elle is a grifter, which is a con artist, for those of us him criminally inclined. Her parents were grifters and she had followed in their foot steps.  She's decided she's done after she is put in a pretty dangerous situation and barely escapes.
She heads back to Palm Valley, where she spent her high school days and meets up with her former best friend.
Camden was a weirdo in high school. Trench costs, make up, the whole deal. Elle turned on him and so is surprising that when she sees him when she's back in town, he doesn't seem upset. What's even more surprising is that he's hot. Seriously hot. And successful.. she quickly rethinks quitting drifting, thinking perhaps he could be her last score. But she's also falling for him. Can her heart make her stop a life time of her bad choices? There are lots of twists and turns along the way. Some adventure.
Camden - strong and sexy, I love how he stood up for himself to Ellie. He may love her but he wouldn't be walked over
Camden - for someone so strong, he had some very well moments and I'm not talking about with Ellie.
"I hate you Ellie Watt," he whispered, lips coming closer to mine, "because I still love you after all these years."
