Review: Beautifully Damaged by LA Fiore

March 5, 2013

Ember Walsh was always the quiet one, enjoying a book and a glass of wine over the noise and crowds of a club, but when her best friend asks her to come out and meet the boy she likes Ember's world is turned upside down. He appears like a mythical avenging angel, inked, gorgeous and completely out of her league but one look and Ember no longer wants the quiet, she wants him.

Trace Montgomery has buried his damaged past with women and fighting until one day he meets an angel and suddenly he wants more, he wants her. For her, he's determined to overcome his demons but will the dark secret that links their pasts bring them closer or will it tear them apart
I was hesitant to start this book because a friend of mine read this and was only so-so about it. But finally I decided to read it for myself. And I absolutely LOVED it.

Trace is sexy. He's dark, had some issues and hot as heck. And Ember, she's sweet. I really connected with her. She's quiet, letting others always take the spotlight, sitting in the corner with her book. But she begins to embrace who she really is as we follow her through this story.

Trace and Ember meet at a club, when Ember decided to take her roommate up on a night on the town. As Ember is at the bar, enjoying a drink, a drunk guy gets a little too frisky with her and Trace steps in to help (Not that Ember needed help because she's pretty much a bad ass.) After that night, they begin to run into each other all over the place. Their chemistry is off the charts but Trace has a habit of holding back and running when things get too intense.

Through the book, Trace's secrets unravel and become intertwined with Ember's life. There were so many plot twists in this book, that it made for a fun read. I highly recommend it.
OK so despite his crazy, I really did like Trace. I also loved his bestie Rafe. The love he had for Trace was a beautifully brotherly love.
Everything wrapped up a little too tightly.

"Agreed. Deep frying a turkey...good or bad idea?"
"If done right, it's probably really good."
"I agree but I'm not brave enough to attempt it. I'd probably end up with third degree burns all over. What do you think about Turducken?"
"Tasty or not, no bird deserves that end."
