Review: Connected by Kim Karr

What if a ‘Once in a Lifetime’ could happen twice?

Suffering from a past full of tragedy, Dahlia London's soul has been left completely shattered. Happily ever after is a far cry from reality in her world. But, when she is reconnected with her past, the bonds that form are irrefutable.

When River Wilde, lead singer of The Wilde Ones, comes back into Dahlia’s life, the intensity that fires their relationship combined with underlying feelings that have never died lead her to believe she has met her soulmate.

Struggling with confusion as old connections fade and new ones begin, Dahlia's grief begins to lift--but guilt remains. River wants to be the one to mend all that is torn within her.

But with a past that is never really gone, can their future survive?

How to explain the roller coaster that I went on, with this book.

We meet Dahlia, a girl with a tragic past, a super supportive BFF, Aerie and a somewhat douchey but okay enough boyfriend, Ben. Dahlia and Ben have been together, forever and plan to be together even longer.

When Dahlia and her Aerie hit up a bar, Dahlia's eyes lock with River Wilde. It takes one look and she is indescribably drawn to him, and him to her. After sharing a moment, River must leave her to go play on stage with his band, but asks Dahlia to meet him afterwards. When he walks away, she quickly scoops up Aerie and high tails it out of there before she crosses a line she can't come back from.

Knowing these things, I wondered why I hadn’t walked away in the first place. For a moment there, I felt as though I believed in love at first sight, which I didn’t. And how could love at first sight even exist when you were already in love with someone else? I didn’t want to analyze the events of tonight because I was confused as hell, and the answers would not be what I wanted to hear.

5 years later Dahlia and Ben are engaged, getting ready for a night out when Ben is a a victim of a car jacking and murdered. Dahlia is crushed and broken. She spends a long time wallowing in that depression before Aerie sets her up to interview River Wilde. Nervous but excited, Dahlia agrees and with a boyfriend no longer, the sparks fly between the two of them. But River has some secrets that threaten to rip them apart, regardless of how deep their love is.

“I feel like fate has brought us together again. I also believe that one night, so long ago, just wasn’t the right time for us. But tonight is.”

It was a great great story with a cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers. I've never wanted to punch my nook as much as I wanted to when I got to the end. My only issue with the book was that is was a little too long due to a lot of description, which caused me to tune out a bit.
