Blog Tour: Real by Katy Evans

A fallen boxer.
A woman with a broken dream.
A competition…

He even makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting…

Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I’ve ever met in my life.

He’s the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit, and I’m drawn to him as I’ve never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he’s near, I need to remind myself that I am strong–but he is stronger. And now it’s my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents . . .

But the one he’s most threatening to, now, is me.

I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations.

If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

I love him. He’s not just a star, he’s the whole fucking sky to me. He’s the sun and every planet in this galaxy.

I'd like to start my review by stating that I'm not too familiar with mental illnesses but in reading this book, I felt myself almost physically emulating the rollercoaster of this story.

Brooke, a former runner, whose Olympic dreams were dashed by injury, has pulled into herself and rarely lets anyone in. She's become focused on her career as a Sports Rehab. At her best friends urging, she attends an underground fight where she is instantly drawn to Remington Tate, a boxer, who appears to be equally drawn to her.

The ringmaster lifts Remington’s arm in victory, and as soon as he straightens from the knockout blow he just delivered, his gaze swings in my direction and crashes into me. Piercing blue eyes meet mine, and something knots and pulls inside my tummy. His sweaty chest rises and falls in a deep pant, and a drop of blood rests at the corner of his lips. Through it all, his eyes are glued to me.

With the intention of enjoying a hot one night stand, she accepts Remy's offer to attend his next fight but when she goes back to his hotel room, she's offered a job to work for him. She signs a 3 month contract to go on the road with him and do a job that requires her to spend all her time, touching and rubbing on his, which flares her lust for him significantly. Even though his eyes make it clear he wants her, Remy makes no move to "take her" even though she begs.

His hands clamp around me, and he crushes me to his body as he slides his nose along the shell of my ear. “When I take you, you’ll be mine,” he says, a soft promise in my ear. He slides his thumb along my jaw, then gently kisses my earlobe. “You need to be certain.” His eyes are so hot that I’m on fire with the lust in them, and the word “mine” makes the empty place between my legs swell with longing. “I want you to know me first, and then, I want you to let me know if you still want me to take you.”

This book was so damn steamy. Brooke's lust was almost palpable, which for a book is pretty significant. I found myself conflicted, when putting myself in Brooke's shoes, I know I would have loved Remy but looking at it from the outside, I wondered about whether or not their relationship was a healthy one. I came down on the side of NO, it's not healthy but who gives a crap because it's HOT!

“Why’d you want to have sex with me? To have a fucking adventure? What was I supposed to be? Your one-night-fucking stand? I’m every woman’s adventure, damn you, and I don’t want to be yours. I want to be your fucking REAL. You get that?"
