I want to start by explaining why I love Tijan's work so much. She writes some extremely awesome female characters. Strong women who aren't the typical sad broken women who need some man to come save them. Bad stuff happens to the but they just keep on going. Sam is one of these girls. Her mind decided to leave her dad for another man. Deciding that they will be moving in with him and his two sons. Her boyfriend is cheating on her with her best friend and get other best friends had been covering for them. That doesn't keep Sam down though. She just keeps on going. Her future step brothers, Mason and Logan Kade, are the epitome of everything sexy, arrogant and rich. They rule, not only the school but the town. Everyone knows them. Every guy wants to be them and every girl wants to sleep with them. Well everyone except Sam. She's not interested in being their friend, their sister or even acknowledging their existence. Sam spends her time running and hanging with her new annoying friend Becky. As her mom becomes more selfish and she learns some new truths about her life, she begins to bond with her new "brothers" by acting out. I absolutely love the dynamic between Sam and Mason as she begins to fall for him. She's not that girl who spends all get time thinking about the boy she likes. She takes him as he comes and just lets things take their course. There is ton of drama in this book. Rivals schools, rich popular kids who think they rule the school, backstabbing, cheating.. It's all in here. And it makes for an exciting ride. I've reread this book at least 5 times and am sure I will again! I am anxiously awaiting the second book, Fallen Crest Public.
