Seven is a man eating, ball buster to the extreme. She's sexy, kinky, bad-ass and in control at all times. She's a girl who firmly believes in revenge and in seeking revenge, ends up in a very precarious position. Seven spends 5 years, to exact revenge against her ex-boyfriend. Her big plan, take over his fathers company. And she succeeded, but when she walks into the boardroom on her first day, not only does she come face to face with her ex, Daniel, but also Levi.

Two nights before her big board meeting, Seven heads to her favorite sex club to hang out with her best friend and sometime hook up Star. While there, she meets Levi and takes him home for a one night stand that rocks her world. The man she can't get out of her head now works for her and decides he's not going to let her forget him and their time together.

Levi gets under her skins and we see why she is the way she is. Her vulnerability shows and it shows big. I enjoyed reading Seven more then I thought I would. I've never been a big fan of women who feel like they have to run over a man to prove themselves. But Seven, although she was tough as nails, I still liked her. And Levi, he was relentless and it was sweet.

I love the idea of revenge, although I'm not a revenge seeker myself. I like it when people get a piece of themselves back from those who stole it. Even if that's "wrong" so reading this story was fun for me.

Review: Love Square by Jessica Ingro

A love triangle gone bad...

***Warning: Although I'm definitely spelling out the plot in this review. No, I'm not giving away the ending, but you'll get a pretty good idea of what takes place. 

How do I review a book where I spent the entire experience hating the fictional existence of two of the main characters. 

Sam is so incredibly stupid. She constantly justifies her actions, which, by the way, are not justifiable. Yes, her marriage has hit a bad patch. Yes, she's been sex starved for 7 months. Yes, she asked her husband to undo her dress and he didn't take the hint. But there's nowhere indicating that she made any efforts to rectify any of this. She just continued to sink into her emotional cesspool. Instead of communicating with her HUSBAND, that she was feeling unloved, she tries to create that with another man. 

And Jacob... oh Jacob. I found him to be so incredibly manipulating, it was ridiculous. Yes, he says he loves her but there's not one action that he's taken where he's acted based on that love. He constantly messes with her head, fails to listen to what she says, allows her to continue down this path of immoral, disgusting behavior, all in the name of "fighting for the woman he loves."  No, fighting for the woman you love it talking to her about her issues, forcing her confront those issues with her husband, helping her understand that when/if she is ready to make that move to separate from her husband, she has a safe place within his arms. But no, really, he just wanted to get off. 

This isn't to say I didn't like the book. The best thing about a story is each person uses their own experiences in life to build the world that the author creates for them. This author created the circumstances, the time, the place, the thoughts and as a reader, I shaped it to fit within my world. The author created this world perfectly. 

Additionally, the sex scenes were.... off the charts hot, and frequent.

While she may not “do” serious relationships, she has fulfillment in her work and hanging out with her best friend, Kade—the greatest sidekick any woman could possibly want. All is well in Nina’s hectic, but satisfying life…

That is, until she meets Josh, a stunningly handsome man who has a notorious reputation as a ladies’ man. For his part, Josh is reluctant to commit to any woman, largely due to his loving, yet overbearing mother. Nina, however, sparks his interest in a way that no other woman has before. As they navigate the pitfalls of romantic entanglement, both come to realize their pasts are intertwined in ways they could never imagine. Pinned Up was an exciting and fun story about Nina, victim's advocate by day and a pinup model by night, and Josh, the owner of his own construction company. They meet at a photo shoot, where Josh's friend Damien was the photographer and there's instant chemistry. Nina is too busy to consider a personal relationship with Josh and so when he finally asks her on a date, she only allows him to take her on a non-date. A non-date that ends very hot and heavy and picks up day after day. 

They quickly become close but both of them have a troubled past that they are reluctant to share. Nina eventually opens up but Josh is still keeping his secrets close to the chest. When Nina finds Josh in a compromising position, she does what she does best, cuts Josh off. 

Josh though, is unwilling to let her go and continues to pursue her but when both of their pasts come back into their lives, everything they have is threatened. 

There were a ton of surprises in this story and no one is truly who they say they are. And there were some definite hot scenes. I absolutely loved Kade, Nina's best friend and adopted brother. He was such an amazing BFF, always at her side, pushing her when she needed and supporting her when he couldn't do anything else. And the dynamic between Kade and Nina's other friend Emme was pure comedy. 

Josh was also a special kind of guy. With his magical ability to twist anything Nina said to his dirty way. 

C. Michelle earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration degree while working as a probation officer and counselor. She has also served her community as a Victim Awareness Program instructor and an Aggression Replacement Training (ART) facilitator. Her love of all things funny and romantic led to the writing of her debut novel, Pinned Up.

ARC Review: Awakening by Serena Grey

Sophie Bennett has virtually no experience with men. Orphaned from birth, she's gone from living with her reclusive spinster aunt, to a sheltered education in a catholic boarding school. So nothing prepares her for David Preston. The intensely attractive business-man is entirely out of her league. Can she handle such a dangerous man, or is she in over her head?

Sophie hasn't had the best upbringing. She never knew her father and her mom died during child birth forcing her to live with her aunt who was less then happy to play parent. She sent Sophie to boarding school where Sophie lived a sheltered and unhappy life. At 18, she's back home, when her aunt dies she's left with nothing. A tiny apartment and a job that she fears won't last long. Until one day, a devastatingly handsome man walks into her life and introduces her to a passion she's never known. 

This story is short, like 95 pages on my iPad short. The problem is, it was so short that I didn't get the chance to really feel enough for what it was. The story will continue and I imagine that as it does, and more is unraveled, I will want to adjust my review but based on this story alone, I feel like it's a nice, passionate story of learning new experiences. I'm anxious for the next one and this isn't even out yet.
